Frisco Landing is now open!

The first building on the UNT at Frisco branch campus has opened just in time for Spring 2023 classes. Born from a partnership between UNT and the City of Frisco, this 135,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art building was designed with a focus on student success and offers classrooms and study spaces that promote collaboration, transparency and open communication between faculty and students. Frisco Landing will be home to many of the 27 undergraduate and master’s level programs offered to more than 2,500 students enrolled in classes at UNT at Frisco. The Spring 2023 opening marks the latest chapter in UNT’s presence in Collin County, which allows UNT to offer convenient access to the opportunities that a UNT education provides for those in the North Texas region and beyond.

Frisco Landing

  • Construction of the Frisco Landing building began in Fall 2020 after the location was approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in January 2020.
  • The location sits on 100 acres of land at the southwest corner of Preston Road and Panther Creek Parkway, which was provided by the City of Frisco at no cost to begin the partnership.
  • The four-story building was designed with space that focuses on student success and collaboration. For example, the building features 69 “huddle rooms” that allow for small to medium-sized groups to collaborate and interactive classrooms that allow all students access to fully participate.
  • “Soaring” is a suspended sculpture that will be prominently featured in the building and is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between UNT at Frisco and the College of Visual Arts and Design. The artist, Archit Karkare, is a sculpture student and a native of India. The artwork pays homage to the Indigenous Peoples whose land UNT at Frisco resides upon — the Wichita and affiliated tribes and the Caddo Nation, while also acknowledging that other groups have used the land, such as the Cherokee and Comanche.
  • The UNT at Frisco branch campus master plan, which was approved in August 2019 by the UNT System Board of Regents, establishes the framework for the growth and development of the new site for decades to come, and supports UNT’s mission to prepare students to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

UNT at Frisco Background

  • UNT has been offering classes in Frisco since 2016, at locations including Hall Park and Inspire Park. Prior to this, there was not a four-year institution in Collin County.
  • UNT continually creates new programs designed to help students be successful with in-demand careers, and UNT at Frisco’s convenient location near some of the world’s top companies and industries allows for incredible opportunities. For example, UNT at Frisco already hosts classes with partners like the Dallas Cowboys and the PGA.
  • Programs offered exclusively at UNT at Frisco include Project Design and Analysis, Industrial Distribution and Applied Project Design and Analysis. In Spring 2022, the first cohort of the Project Design and Analysis program graduated. The immersive program gives students the opportunity to put their skills into practice on real-world projects with industry partners.
