What is a Flipped Courses?

A flipped classroom is an innovative hybrid learning model in which multiple course sections are coalesced into a single lecture delivered online, and students are then divided into smaller in-person sections, called recitations, that meet weekly. This gives every student a small, high-impact class experience even in UNT's largest introductory courses. Students experience the lecture portion flexibly, on their own time, in smaller chunks, with the ability to pause, re-listen, and digest, while recitations foster active engagement, problem-solving, and community-building.

Four-step process for a flipped course: (1) Watch the online lecture, (2) Review and prepare at your own pace, (3) Attend a small group recitation, and (4) Engage, solve problems, and build community.
