UNT at Frisco and Collin College have partnered together to provide UNT students with more course options and an affordable way to complete their degree in business or science. This partnership enables students to enroll in courses at both Collin College and UNT concurrently, while following a designated degree path at UNT.
  • Locations: Collin College classes are offered at Collin College’s Frisco campus and UNT at Frisco campus.
  • Enrollment: Students are admitted to both institutions, allowing enrollment in courses that transfer into UNT degrees, providing a more cost-effective path to earning a degree at UNT.

 

Concurrent Enrollment Checklist

Connect with a UNT Academic Advisor
  • Discuss eligible Collin College coursework with your academic advisor.
  • Your advisor will add XPTH placeholder courses to your schedule to indicate the total credit hours enrolled at Collin College.
  • XPTH courses will be dropped if Collin College registration and your third-party release are not complete.
Collin College Admission
  • Complete your application via ApplyTexas.
  • Biology majors select "Associate of Science."
  • Business majors select "Business Field of Study."
  • Please note: Current students who have been enrolled at Collin College within the last academic year, and who have an active account, do not need to apply.
  • Submit all required documents.
Complete your Third-Party Release
  • Add Collin College to your third-party release at UNT to share records & transfer courses to UNT.
    • Click the “profile” tile in myUNT.
    • Select “third-party release” from the left-hand menu.
    • Click the “add person” button.
      • Add: Collin College | relationship = other school/university | 972-377-1710 | admissions@collin.edu | passcode = choose a unique passcode
      • Select “all items” to release your full record.
      • Select “student record information release” to permit UNT to send and receive your academic and financial records automatically.
      • Click “save.”
    • Enroll in your UNT courses through myUNT
Enroll in Collin College Courses
Ryan College of Business
  • Email Toya Jackson (toyajackson@collin.edu) at Collin College and  cc: Brittany Reiner (brittany.reiner@unt.edu) with the following information:
    • Request - UNT concurrent student enrollment
    • Collin College ID #  and  name submitted on application; UNT student ID #  and name submitted on application; Collin College course title, number and time
    • After receiving a confirmation email from Collin College, log into the CougarWeb student portal to review your Collin College schedule.

Will I be considered a Collin College student if I take Collin College classes?

When you are admitted and registered at Collin College and UNT concurrently, you are considered a student of both institutions and can participate in all events and services at UNT and Collin College.

Where is Collin College Frisco campus?

Collin College is located at 9700 Wade Blvd in Frisco.

Do I have to take Collin College classes at the Frisco campus location?
You may take the approved classes at any Collin College campus. The enrollment and transfer of credit process is the same for any of the Collin College campuses.

How do I register and pay for the Collin College classes?

Once you are admitted to Collin College, College of Science students may enroll themselves in their desired sections. Business students will contact Toya Jackson (toyajackson@collin.edu) to register for the classes you need. All students should be sure to complete the third-party release form through myUNT to allow Collin College and UNT to share your academic and financial information. Your advisor will also add a pathway course on your UNT schedule (XPTH) showing that you have registered for a Collin College course. UNT will provide you a single billing statement for all courses and will be your financial aid contact.

Can I use my financial aid at UNT and at Collin College?

If attending courses at Collin College and UNT, please contact the Financial Aid & Scholarship Office as soon as possible to discuss any impacts to your financial aid.

Why do I have to see a UNT academic advisor?

A College of Science or Business academic advisor should review your degree audit to verify that Collin College classes are right for you. Advisors will ensure the courses will apply to your biology or business degree and enroll you in XPTH courses at UNT.

What can I do to make the transfer of credit between UNT and Collin College easier?

UNT and Collin College can automate the transfer of credit between institutions with your permission. Permission is granted by logging in to your myUNT and completing the third-party release form. Follow the instructions on the checklist to add Collin College to your “third party release” form in myUNT.
