Susan Watson, Ph.D

Applied Arts & Sciences; Economics

Clinical Assistant Professor

I have been a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Applied Arts and Sciences program since October 2019. My educational background includes a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University, M.S. in Agricultural Education from Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Texas Tech University. As an economist, my research efforts are largely interdisciplinary and span a variety of fields. A sample of these include e-commerce, new retail markets for the meat industry, student perceptions studies, willingness-to-pay forecasting, college-readiness indicators, and the economic impacts of precision agriculture.

My favorite part of my job is teaching. Currently, I teach the three BAAS unifying courses in Coursera. I especially enjoy being able to reach many more students through online and distance learning using new and innovative technology. My greatest joy is the student interaction and growth for students and myself in the collaborative collegiate environment.
